  1. I really want the meme on the right to go away. The whole thing suggests we're okay with what's happening and likely to happen to the kids that this meme represents. It goes beyond racism; it's pathological.

    3. then do something about it instead of saying "I don't like this"

That is the problem with this world, everyone wants to complain but no one wants to be the change that they want to see.

  2. then get off your computer lazy fuck

  3. The meme on the right is hilarious. Fuck off.

  4. Who said this had anything to do with race?
This is First World vs Third World.
This has nothing to do with race.

  5. Doesn't the title show that whoever made this was not okay with it. The point of the one on the left is to show that our problems are bs compared to the problems they face in third world countries. If anything, this is here to show us, through humor, to learn to appreciate the small stuff.

  6. Anyway, if we always banned everything the moment someone said it was offensive, there wouldn't be a single joke left in the country.

  7. "The whole thing suggests we're okay with what's happening"

if we were okay with what's happening, there would be millions of people starving/dying from poverty around the world while we all buy Christmas presents we don't even need... wait a sec...

  8. Nice Post...The ones on the right were funnier though...Whoever has a problem with them is an idiot.

  9. Even when we try to help, our efforts are in vain because their corrupt government wants to keep them 3rd world. They come in a militaristic fashion and take everything they have and steal all the food and money that gets sent to help them. It is their government and not Americans that create these problems for them. Telling someone to get off their lazy ass and donate to unicef or go over there really doesnt help them either. There is not any kind of real comparison.

    1. Yeah not really, the money usually doesn't even get to the continent. And also, Africa is like that thanks, mostly, to the first world. It's not THEIR government. It's yours.

    2. I've spent years in Africa. This is a gross exaggeration of even the worst areas. This is Called HUMOR. Question though, if I went to take pictures of the Dept. Of human Services line anywhere in a urban area, the majority of people would me black. Would that be racism if the project or documentary was for DHS??? Its a situation that we over came as anglo saxons over the past 4000 years. DONT HATE!!!

  10. I don't think loupgrru knows what "racist" and "pathological" mean.

  11. corruption created by the intervention of developed countries which introduced policies which alianate the moyority of the population

  12. I agree with loupgrru. Whole-heartedly. Don't let insensitive people who don't understand the magnitude of suffering sway you or what you think is right.

Children are raped and beaten when recruited as child soldiers. Is that funny? They lose their families from starvation and sicknesses that would make you puke to think about. Is that funny? They suffer more than what you can think of, and here you are, posting things like this, and laughing. Imagine yourself or your family in the same position, is it funny then? Switch the situations. You don't know if you could live another day, you haven't eaten for weeks, your family's dead and for years there has been war and famine. Laugh now. And I'll give you your Pringles and a dictionary for Dr C, pschiff and anyone else who doesn't understand what "racism", "idiot", and "pathological" means.

  13. either way, it's just a joke you pussies

  14. loup grru = bastardization of Werewolf. From this, I'm betting wolf's post is a samefool post. Either way, what people are laughing at here are not the specifics you mention, which are horrible when applied to any group of living beings. People are laughing at two very normal extremes of humor: some people gripe about the best, other people laugh about the worst. If you really don't like it, then as was suggested before and do something beyond trying to change the narrow-mindedness of the internet.

    1. Well put. i agree
The jarring optimism when faced with horror, as opposed to exaggerated pessimism when faced with luxury is a great comedic tool. furthermore, if anything this is insulting to the first world, rather than laughing at the third. but alas, camedy isnt for everyone i suppose.

  15. Wolf, you really think some stupid meme is going to sway people into thinking it's okay that kids are dying?

It's possible to laugh and care all at once, you know. Although I get that some people have trouble with the whole two-emotions-at-the-same-time thing.

  16. loupgrru - not sure if trolling or just retarded...

    ReplyDelete
  17. loupgrru your entire argument just goes to show how absolutely moronic our country has become, these pictures are not an attempt to justify whats happening in 3rd world countries! Its simply showing the absurdity of our world when one person can complain about having everything while another is happy to have not been killed that day. Your comment makes it seem as though you would not like to hear about the terrible things that happen in 3rd world countries regardless of how they are interpreted. The same could be said for the pictures on the left, its not funny its fucking sad yet everyone gets a kick out of it. You are no better than any of us even if you feel it necessary to point out that we are all heathens.

  18. Yes now if you wrote more than 60 words in the commentary, you should consider each word a dollar donation to some humanity organization. :) A joke's a joke people.

  19. The right side is funny. Who cares about the third world, they need to get themselves out of their own deficit the rest of the world has their own problems to deal with.

    ReplyDelete
  20. @ Wolf: Yes, I think all of that is funny and I'll keep laughing. Eat my insensitive asshole.

@loupgrru: Take your silly little opinions off meme threads; you're dumb. This shit is hilarious.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Hey Loupgrru you hit the nail on the head, it is completely true that most people are completely okay with what is going on in the world. Read some books and you will see that the picture of the kids used for that meme doesn't begin to represent how bad the third world is.

    ReplyDelete
  22. Honestly??? You people make me physically ill to admit I am part of the same species. Take a joke. No one thinks that what happens in a 3rd world country is funny, cool, or even mildly acceptable, but it is a friggin joke. All that aside it is more about the juxtaposition of 1st world woes and 3rd world success. A reflection on the excess of our society not the vindication of their's.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Not sure if you self-righteous trolls just like to make yourselves feel better by thinking you're the only ones who cares about poverty in 3rd world countries but seriously, NOBODY THINKS ITS OK HERE. We can all have a laugh at the meme while still caring. Its not being in-sensitive, its called seeing a light side to everything you pompous peccimists

    ReplyDelete
  24. All you guys who are angry? Dergadator up there got it right in one. Yeah it's bad to laugh at the misfortune of others. But guess what, you guys who pretend like you care so much are even worse than the others in blind denial because sad as it is, WE DO THINK IT'S OKAY. Every time we buy oil, plastic, diamonds, gold, products containing palm oil, etc. etc. etc. we are saying it's okay.

And before you're all like "stop being so self-righteous", I'm not excluding myself here. I support these things, every day, because I'm too lazy to change my comfortable habits. But that doesn't mean it's right.

Finding humour in a grim world is not wrong. You could argue it's desensitising, but being too sensitive is just as bad as the other way round.

    ReplyDelete
  25. ever notice how "the ones who care" are the first ones to point fingers and ask why the rest of arent doing anything. Its because of the stupidity and laziness of you...that we are so unmotivated to join your opinion. if you really want to "do your part" .... the next homeless guy you see...buy him lunch or offer to do his laundry. the ability to help is right beside you.

  26. Kelly Davis.... you my friend, are a genius!

  27. Memes aren't meant to make you happy. Shhh, you hear that?.... It's the sound of butthurt. You idiots are the ones that keep the internet trolls fat and happy. And oh how it warms my non-existent heart. Kids in Africa? Who cares! This is AMURICA!

  28. cool story bros, in what chapter do you shut the fuck up?

  29. Satire: the use of humor, irony, exaggeration, or ridicule to expose and criticize something in society that is thought to be immoral, stupid, or corrupt, in order to change it. I feel bad for those of you who don't understand it, or for those of you who believe that someone could be depraved enough to be making fun of suffering children. Stop trying to fix other people before looking at yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  30. you people just don't understand the point of the cartoon. it's saying how absurd our everyday problems are compared to the problems others face. it's pointing out what we take for granted when there are those with much worse problems. just because the cartoon points out some of the problems in the third world doesn't mean it's making fun of it.

    ReplyDelete
  31. It's funny how the first comment trolled EVERYONE

    ReplyDelete
  32. ..... Uh, I like how everybody's comments run along the lines of, "It's just a joke!" Only two people who left comments were really opposed to the memes. And those two comments were relatively short and inarticulate.

On another note, this is fucking hilarious. And the Brita thing? That's definitely one of my biggest first world problems. Damn dishes always get in the way. It's enough to make me tear up. And then when I do refill it, the water isn't cold enough! It's just terrible. I could put some ice cubes in it but that's so much work and they never want to come out of the ice tray... Jeez, I sure do have it hard. I wish my fridge had an ice maker. Maybe that's what I'll ask for next Christmas.
